Treetops Amazing Race – February 23 & 24, 2008

Based on the Emmy award-winning reality series airing on CBS, Treetops brings back its own version of the Amazing Race. This is the 4th annual event at Treetops, which was highly successful in 2007 when 12 teams of four raced across the resort and into downtown Gaylord and had an absolute blast.

New in 2008…

In an effort to include more teams, we will administer two separate races; one race for kids 13 and younger and an open race for kids/adults of any age. Proceeds from this year’s event will again benefit the athletic departments of Otsego County Schools such as Gaylord, Johannesburg-Lewiston, Vanderbilt and Gaylord St. Mary.

About The 2008 Race

Teams of four (4) will use teamwork that will test their physical and mental toughness to try to complete the race the fastest. Along the way there will be Roadblocks (a task only one team member will complete) and Detours (a choice between two tasks each with its pros and cons) that each team will need to complete to receive their next clue telling them where their next destination is. There will also be Pit Stops during the race. A Pit Stop is a mandatory rest period which insures that the team that gets the early lead is not guaranteed victory.

Kid’s Teams
Teams of four made up of kids age 13 and younger
. This race will begin at approximately 3pm on Saturday, February 23rd and conclude at approximately 7pm on Saturday, Feb. 23rd

Open Teams

Teams of four made up of kids, adults or any combination of the two. This race will begin at approximately 9:30 am on Saturday, February 23rd with a Pit Stop ending Saturday’s activities at approximately 1:30pm and continue at 9:30am on Sunday, February 24th until approximately 12:30pm..

Entry Fee

Our entry fee is $300 per team and includes lift ticket and rental for each team member, eight additional lift tickets to use during the remainder of the 2007-08 season, team T-shirts with your business logo on the t-shirt, Food & Beverage during the race, Lunch Banquet at the conclusion of the race for each racer as well as two (2) additional lunch tickets for you and your guest, a sign at the start and finish of the race if sponsored by a business. In addition, four (4) mid-week rounds of golf valid for the 2008 season.

Big Powderhorn Mountain – February in Big Snow Country

February Skiing at Big Powderhorn Mountain …
February tends to be one of the best months of the winter – the days are getting longer and the sun is a bit stronger. The great part is that we still get plenty of fresh snow to keep a nice snow surface. We just finished with another round of snowmaking to get a few more features going in our terrain parks and to get some reserves built-up for this spring. Easter is coming early this year – it should be a great time!

Feb. 02 – A nice crowd formed early for our Country Kicker / Mardi Gras weekend.

Feb. 03 – The sun came out on Sunday and made it a great day.

Feb. 06 – We fired up the snow guns to touch-up the terrain parks and build some spring snow reserves.

Feb. 11 – The morning sun makes Alpen trail shine.

Feb. 11 – Looking down Smoke after some fresh snowfall.

Feb. 11 – Getting ready to ski down Tamarou while checking out the Copper Peak ski jump in the background.
