6th Annual Chefs Challenge to benefit Challenge Mountain – April 12 – 13, 2013

Showcasing the best chefs in the state of Michigan.  If you’re looking for a fun-filled exciting event, don’t miss the 6th Annual Chefs Challenge for Challenge Mountain.

Chef teams from throughout Michigan present the state’s great agricultural diversity at its succulent finest, complimented by fine Michigan wines, microbrews and spirits…. a true premier Michigan event.  Weekend events include exciting seminars, culinary exhibits, three chef competitions along with great food, wine and celebrity judges.

Nightly lodging is available at Boyne Mountain Resort starting at $69 per night in the Clock Tower Lodge and $118 in the luxurious Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa.  For reservations, call 800.GO.BOYNE (462.6963).

Friday, April 12, 2013:

  • 6-8pm: High School Culinary Competition and Meet & Greet, Vienna Room, Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa.  Open to the public.  $10 general admission includes unlimited tastes and cash bar.

Saturday, April 13, 2013:

  • 9am-12pm: Food, Beer, Wine and Wellness Seminars, Civic Center – FREE ADMISSION
  • 11am-4pm: “Taste of Michigan” Food, Dessert, Beer, Wine and Spirit Tasting, Civic Center – Cost is $30 for eight tasting good towards food and beverage tastings and includes admission to the Chop Challenge.  Additional tickets can be purchased in quantities of four for $15, or eight for $25. Entry/tickets can be purchased at the door.
  • 1:30pm: Four winners for the Chop Challenge determined by three celebrity judges.
  • 2pm – 4pm: Chop Challenge, Civic Center
  • 3pm: Announcement of Taste of Michigan People’s Choice Winners
  • 4pm: Announcement of Chop Challenge Winner
  • 4:30 – 6pm: Cake Decorating Challenge, Civic Center Lower Level – Cost is $5 for dessert samples and cash bar.  Emceed by celebrity Chef Michelle Bommarito.

Boyne Mountain – 2019 Hemlock Open – April 20, 2019

The Best of Both Seasons

If you aren’t quite ready to put your race skis away but you have thought about dusting off the clubs, then we have the event for you. The Hemlock Open is a two person team competition. It consists of two runs of slalom in a dual format on North Boyne in the morning. In the afternoon, enjoy a two person, 9 hole scramble. Each team member’s best run is added together with their team golf score to determine the total team score.  There will be prizes from Rossignol and Under Armour for top finishing teams and special event winners.

  • Date is subject to change dependent on slope and golf course conditions.
  • Minimum age of 15 years old (or freshman in high school) to participate.
  • Space is limited, and this event does sell out. Register early to ensure a spot!
  • Entry fee is $50 person/ $100 team
  • This event is SOLD OUT, but you can still submit a registration form to be added to the wait list.

Boyne Mountain – Weekend Rail Jam presented by The North Face! – February 23, 2013


The Weekend Rail Jam presented by The North Face is open to all skiers and snowboarders who want to “lay it on the line” and show us what you got.  This is a judged event and top finishers will walk away with some great prizes provided by our sponsor The North Face as well as Boyne gift cards.  The rail jam will be a fast moving competition with music, announcer and various divisions based on the number of entrants.  Spectators are welcome so come on out and get ready for a great show.

Stuff you need to know:

  • Registration 2 – 3:30pm in the West Civic Center Lobby at Boyne Mountain.
  • Entry Fee is $5.00
  • Rail Jam will begin at 4pm at a location to be determined
  • Divisions are dependant upon who signs up, but rest assured there will be divisions for boys, girls, skiers and snowboarders
  • Top finishers will receive BOYNE Gift Cards as well as a prize from The North Face
  • Swag give aways
  • All competitors must wear a helmet
