Cold Weather and Snow Coming in with the New Year!

US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan

After a relatively mild end to 2011…the new year will come in with a roar as a strong push of cold air will bring significant lake effect snowfall to the Lake Superior and Lake Michigan snow belts from Sunday night through Monday night. Strong northwest wind gusts will also result in considerable blowing and drifting snowfall. In the meantime…light snow this evening will give way to some drizzle and freezing drizzle tonight into Friday. Some additional light snow is expected along and south of a Manistee to Alpena line Friday afternoon and evening. New Year’s Eve looks mostly quiet before things change dramatically on Sunday. (Please visit http://weather.gov/apx for more information.)
